Our New Ambulance!

On November 29, FOVFR placed into service our new 2016 Road Rescue "Ultramedic" ambulance. Our new state-of-the-art ambulance is built on a Ford F550 Super Duty chassis and includes:

The total cost of the ambulance was $279,155. This may seem expensive (it is) but is typical for an emergency vehicle of this type. Through your donations we paid $137,155 towards the vehicle, but still need to raise $142,000 to complete the purchase.

FOVFR Saves Christmas!

On December 10, 2016, volunteers from FOVFR once again teamed-up with members of the Arlington-Fairfax Chapter of the Isaac Walton League to help host its annual Christmas Party for Underprivileged Kids. A traditional Christmas celebration and dinner was provided to area families in need with gifts under a decorated Christmas tree for the children. This year 63 children and their families were served. For 15 years, FOVFR has helped IWLA to provide gifts, volunteers, and transportation for the families.

The highlight of the party was a visit from Santa Claus arriving atop Engine 421-B. Each of the children was called, one by one, to receive gifts and have pictures taken with Santa. Members of FOVFR made personal donations to purchase fire department related toys and other gifts for the children, such as the ladder truck depicted below that had just been opened by an excited child.
